Control of Post Harvest Sugar
Losses
The post harvest sugar losses are very critical. The time lag between
harvesting of cane and its crushing in the factory, should be reduced to
minimum by closely monitoring and regulating quantity of cane harvested
and movement of truck/trollies/carts. A weekly centre cleaning/no
balance programme has been launched to monitor all these activities so
that post harvest sugar losses could be avoided. Factory has taken all
necessary precautions to avoid sugar losses occurring post harvest of
sugarcane.
Awareness Among Cultivators
The awareness among the cultivators about cultivation of sugarcane,
harvesting and other related activities should be created through
various seminars at mill, villages and state levels. The main success of
cane development lies in educating the farmers about sugarcane crop and
agricultural practices. Keeping this in mind, the factory has deputed
farmers to other sugar factories for direct interaction with their
counterparts and cane staff. The efforts of the factory to educate/train
the farmers, are appreciated. Further it is suggested that this vigour
should be maintained.
General
Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd., Khatauli has sufficient
cultivable land, suitable climatic conditions and required
infrastructure to implement intensive cane development programme. With
the concerned efforts of the factory and cane growers, the cane
development programme is bound to result in much higher yields, higher
area under cane cultivation and consequently adequate production of
quality cane to meet the crushing requirement of the sugar plant.
