Irrigation
For meeting the cane requirement of the factory for its optimized cane
crushing capacity, both the intensity and withdrawal of cane from the
area of operation is to be intensified. The factory cane area is having
good irrigation facilities including 118 km length of canal and 6500
private tube wells.
Ratoon Management
To increase the yield of ratoon cane, the factory has undertaken the
following steps for ratoon management.
- Trash burning.
- Irrigation
- Stubble shaving
- Gap filling with pre-sprouted seeds in poly bags.
- Placement of pesticides and nutrient below soil surface.
- Tillage of space in between two rows.
By adopting the above packages and practices, it is expected to
increase per acre production of ratoon cane.
Biological Laboratory
The sugarcane crop losses are very detrimental to the economic working
of factory. The incidence of numerous pests like borers, pyrilla and
black-bug take a heavy toll of sugarcane crop. Biological control of
different pests provides a cheap/effective method of pest control.
Bio-control Lab has already been established with the objective of
providing effective and easy instrument of pest control to the growers.
We are rearing Trichogramma Chilonis in our Bio-control Lab.
Soil Analysis and Soil Treatment
Soil structure and nutrients available in the soil differ from place to
place and will affect the required inputs such as fertilizers,
irrigation etc. for the optimum yield of crop. The sugar mill has
already provided a well-equipped soil analysis and soil- testing
laboratory in the premises of the factory. It has the required
facilities to test and analyze the soil samples for soil structure and
availability of macro & micro nutrient elements. On the basis of
these test reports, the factory is able to recommend various doses of
fertilizers and irrigation intervals to the concerned growers. It also
helps in preparing soil fertility map of the area.
