Location of our sugar units where we have installed cogen plant is in well irrigated high intensity cane belt of western UP, where availability of raw material for sugar plant is assured and therefore fuel (which is considered to be a major risk factor) for the cogen plant is also assured. Also, lot of other biomass fuel is available from the surrounding areas which can/is being used in our cogeneration plants.

Cogen being a decentralised addition of power to the grid, generates power to improve the availability at consuming centres and well being of the farmer community.

Cogeneration is also a major derisking activity for our sugar business which suffers from the cyclicality of the sugar market as the power generation from bagasse gives additional revenue generation stream. Our Cogen plants are amongst the most efficient bagasse based plants of India.
