Powdered Activated Carbon Treatment (PACT) system has been developed by Zimpro of US Filter combining biological treatment and carbon adsorption into a single Reactor which is far better than stand-alone activated sludge process. With PACT process, use of carbon is far less than that with granular carbon systems. PACT systems can be applied for variety of industrial wastewater applications besides in select municipal and contaminated groundwater treatment applications. For the industrial applications, PACT Reactors are extensively used in organic chemicals, plastics, synthetic fibers, solvents, dye & pesticides, Petroleum Refinery etc. The PACT can be retrofitted into the existing systems as well and are designed for stringent COD and other chemical limits in the discharging effluent.

In the larger installations, the PACT systems can be attached with Wet Air Regeneration (WAR) technology to regenerate powdered activated carbon and recycle back to the system which reduces the quantum of spent carbon and as such reduce carbon disposal. WAR is a self sustaining process due to exthormic reaction except initial heating requirement to start the process.
