The Multi Channel Reactor in process is a unique concept for
conventional activated sludge process covering nutrient removal also.
These units can be provided with simultaneous nitrification -
de-nitrification process to reduce the overall oxygen requirement. These
units typically involve three concentric channels each of which operate
at different dissolved oxygen levels. The key to this system efficiency
is unique non-metallic aeration disc which are mounted in numbers on a
horizontal shaft supported on the tank walls in such way that part of
these discs remain submerged in water as they rotate during the
operation. The rotating disc provides about one foot per second velocity
for the wastewater inside each of these channels to ensure that solids
remain under suspension by creating optimum mixing conditions at an
incredibly low 1 HP power consumption per 100,000 - 200,000 gallons.
Multiple Channel Reactor is an excellent concept to prevent Clarifier
solids wash out during high flows by redirecting the inflow to inner
channel instead of the outer channel.
These units can be provided with single or double channels also to meet
the process requirement.
