In wastewater treatment facilities,
Grits are a constant source of wear & tear of the downstream units
besides causing blockage problems. We provide a comprehensive range of
Grit Separation equipment in various options to suit specific job
requirement. These units are optimally designed for the required
hydraulics to ensure optimum grit separation even at peak hydraulic
load. All parts are adequately designed to ensure reliable operation in
tough conditions even with heavy grit situations. The Grit withdrawal
section is designed to ensure that it removes the settled grits without
disturbing the settling in the main section and still lift them with
minimum water contents so that grit disposal does not pose excessive
water spillage problem.
The Grit Separators are available in various options :
- Square Grit Collectors are the most commonly used units
due to simplicity of its design and its operational reliability.
These units are provided either with Screw Classifier or with Rake
Classifier depending upon the client's requirement. The organics
carried over alongwith grit are returned back to the effluent end by
providing organic return pump.
- Rectangular Grit Collectors can also be provided wherever
the plant layout does not allow the Square units or there are
certain process considerations. These units are generally provided
with moving scrappers driven through the endless chain on both ends
of the unit which inturn are carried on adequately sized sprockets
and also supported along the length to ensure minimum chain sagging.
The scrappers can be replaced by the buckets if the debris are to be
lifted up sufficiently to dispose them on a conveyor well above the
operating platform, otherwise, these units can be provided with
suitable screw or rake classifier and at times the grits can also be
withdrawn hydraulically if system requires.
- Aerated Grit Channel is an efficient concept for optimal
performance of any grit removal system. These are installed in long
narrow shallow channels with an adequately sized and spaced air
system across a properly placed baffle plate. In this design the
grit separation is controlled by means of air circulation across the
baffle through spiraling flow around it along the length of the
channel. For positive grit removal a chain scrapper device is
provided similar to the one described under Rectangular Grit
Collector section.
