Product Design Facilities
We have vast domain knowledge in gears and its applications that enables us to address any issue related to gears & gearboxes. Our designing is guided by certain product features, viz., high efficiency and less noise. Design process is backed up with precision balancing, assembly and testing operations.

Our gearboxes conform to:
  • API-613 Fifth Edition
  • API-677 Second Edition
  • AGMA 6011 I 03
  • AGMA 6010 F 97
  • ISO Standards and customer specifications.


Triveni offers Double Helical gearboxes for high power application, having efficiencies as high as 98.9 %. Double helical gears has an added advantage of having no thrust loads. Gearboxes we make come with Pressure dam bearings, which ensures minimum vibrations levels at Low loads.

Design is backed up with thorough understanding of the gear technology with regards to Flexural analysis and Tortional data, supplemented by the robust casing design for low noise levels. Gears are ground to Din-3 /AGMA 14 class of accuracies on our new technology machines imported from Germany , which ensures very high surface finish resulting in low noise levels.

Design process is through PRO-E modeling . Over the years of experience , we have developed number of model templates for various power capacities with customization on project to project basis. Pro-E modeling ensures that assembly process is without any rework, since the entire gearbox with components are assembled part by part on the computer and hence any modification with respect to assembly constraints are taken care during the design stage. Triveni has similar design softwares as LUFKIN , and design parameters can be exchanged and vetted by LUFKIN without any modification in data transmission during design review with LUFKIN.

All Slow speed and High speed gearboxes are designed through similar process. However for slow speed designs selection of Roller bearings plays an important role in the performance of the gearbox in terms of L10 hours. SKF and FAG software packages are utilized to select the bearings and all the bearings are imported bearings ensuring reliability.

Material selection depends on the type of gearing , whether case carburized or through hardened gears. Forgings is procured through approved vendors, conforming to Triveni standards and for high power gearboxes, also to LUFKIN standards, since design values depend on the material strengths.

Bearings are as per Triveni/Lufkin design procured from approved vendors in India and overseas.

For most of the models we use cast iron housings with robust fabricated/cast iron wall. Casings are designed such a way to suit for handling instrumentations needed for predictive maintenance.

Our turning gears meet all the rotational requirements during slow hot and cold running. It has Manual engagement and Auto disengagement or Auto engagement facilities. It comes with Soft Starter options for better startup operations.

Triveni’s Slow speed units come with an Lube oil system options. LOS is designed by Triveni as per API and Non-API standards, wherever required.

Finally thorough design and quality culminates in the gearbox performance in during Mechanical Run Test. All the gearboxes are passed through stringent Quality Control conforming to API standards.
